final post
Some common themes in this semester’s content are contemporary romanticism enlightenment philosophy and ancient in the
We covered contemporary in the earlier more modern works like the Elton john and Emily Dickenson and these works are contemporary because they were either popular or were composed in the recent years. When we covered romanticism we read the last songs and other works that dealt heavily in emotion and feelings.
Enlightenment works that we covered like the declaration of independence and the marriage of Figaro were considered enlightenment because there works of either art or historic literature that includes completely new thought up concepts for the time period.
When we studied philosophy we looked at Aristotle and Socrates and their views on many things and how they still matter to us today
And finally we covered ancient epic literature which mainly had to do with ancient religion and beliefs about gods and the ways of life more specifically war and death.
This semester we did blogs instead of quizzes and although I love my personal blog I didn’t really enjoy the blogs in replace of quizzes because I had the hardest time remembering that we had to do them even if I did the homework, also I detested the blogs because I tend to not be very computer savvy and there for lost points sometimes for minor things that I cannot do nor no how to figure out. I feel like the daily quizzes would help me learn more because we would probably end up going over the questions in class rather than just skip over the assignment at the beginning of class. I also would rather write a structured essay because I have more experience writing papers and essays and there easier to keep up with in my mind and instructor feedback would be more throughout. The blog is portable which is a plus then again so are laptops and papers and quite honestly I have never heard of a prestigious company hiring someone because they can blog they may consider the originality but I do believe that in that particular case it depends on the job one is applying for say for instance if I were to apply for a CEO position at Boeing they would laugh in my face but if I were applying to be a teacher they would consider it because it could be used to the teachers advantage … well that’s all have a nice summer

Middle Ages
i find it ironic that a woman would write about the deception of a woman because usual when a woman deceives she doesn't want anyone to know about it but also considering the place women were in during medieval times it makes it even more ironic because women only had a place in in the home or in the female community they were to support there husbands and children while the men did all the work
hubris is excessive pride over confidence and or arrogance. hubris today is considered annoying we tolerate it but it still annoys us normal people to no end.
one example of hubris is pairs Hilton because she is sooo incredibly stupid and moronic but she considers herself so important and perfect like her money makes her smart
another example can be found in some church organisations because some of these church groups feel like they can do no wrong and like everyone else are sinners they preach about how much people sin when there also sinners themselves.
Declaration of Independence,
Jefferson is considered an enlightenment thinker because he brought new ideas never thought of before and its obvious through the declaration which is considered one of the most important pieces of historic documentation in american history. the declaration is so well written and spoken that this was unfathomable at the time period it was conceived.
enlightenment thinking is focused on the nobility and/or aristocracy of the time periods and and things that its involved in like the marriage of figgero for example which is biased on how fed up people are with the abuse of there rulers
Mozart is considered a revolutionary thinker because his style of musicals and plays were entirely new style's and concepts, completely revolutionary making him famous and world wide recognized as a classical author.
Bourgeois and Proletarians
karl Marx believes that there are 2 groups of people struggling in this world and they are the Bourgeois and proletarians. He believes that the proletarians will win out because in the end they know how to work for what they want
Taylor quotes "the most simple, most monotonous, and most easily acquired knack" and the line refers to mill work and supports Marx's views where he says "Theses labourers, who must sell themselves piecemeal, are a commodity...they become an appendage of the machine".
Janis Joplin "Mercedes Benz" i feel like this song is full of satire directed towards society because she is making fun of how society wants all sorts of materialistic things and there priories are not in proportion to there needs.
. Is this song intended to be serious in any way? If so, how? What does Joplin mean by “social and political import?” Explain. Include a picture of Janis Joplin and a Mercedes Benz.

Tragedy

Aristotle’s theory of tragedy is in his words is “drama not narrative” he says that “it “shows” rather than “tells”” the thinks that it is better than history because history only tells you what happened and not what may have happened and he likes it because “the audience can envision themselves within this cause and effect chain”
A complex plots have both reversal of what is supposed to happen and recognition connected to the problem
Simple plots have only a difference in fate or fortune
He believes that complex is better and more interesting
Hamartia -tragic problem
Katharsis- purgation cleansing of tragic emotions of pity and fear
Deus ex machine – no outside intervention

fate
Kenny Chesney's song there goes my life is a song about a boy who had plans but one bad choice changed his plans permanently and his mistake becomes his entire life. its a song about fate because no matter how much he wishes he could change the circumstances he knows he cant and that its his fate to raise a child i think that bacon would approve because its gods plan for the boy who made a mistake and he wouldn't have made that mistake if it were not what god wanted for him.

All he could think about was I'm too young for this
Got my whole life ahead
hell I'm just a kid myself
how I'm gonna raise one
All he could see were his dreams going up in smoke
So much for ditching this town and hanging out on the coast
Oh well, those plans are long gone
And he said
there goes my life
there goes my future, my everything
might as well kiss it all good-bye
there goes my life.......
A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator
Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.
Momma's waiting to tuck her in
as she fumbles up those stairs
she smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear
sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncing curls
He smiles
there goes my life
there goes my future my everything
I love you, daddy goodnight
there goes my life
She had that Honda loaded down
with Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American express
he checked the oil and slammed the hood, said your good to go
she hugged them both and headed off to the west coast
And he cried
there goes my life
there goes my future, my everything
I love you
baby good-bye
there goes my life
there goes my life

the Iiad
Medias res is means into the middle of things
The Iliad is about morality vs immorality and how to gain this through kleos and kleos aphthiton which are fame and undying fame.
Achilles is unique because his mother was immortal and his father was mortal but his mother being immortal didn’t want to see her son die when she would not. she dipped him into the river of Styx but held him my his heel and thus giving him only one weakness’. Briseis is Achilles’s whore and they have a strong relationship between them
a song that kinda explains fame and undying fame is when i grow up by the pussycat dolls because the song talks about how the singer wants to be famous for ever ...
