Socrates Apology

Socrates Apology was actually written by Plato which was intended to be a speech at a trial against Socrates. Apparently his charges were that he was inventing new gods, did not recognize the gods the state recognized and he corrupted the minds of the youths. And this speech isn’t exactly an apology as modern day believes but a defense speech defending his actions. A gadfly is a horse fly an insect n which Socrates likens himself to in his defense because the citizens have come to see him as an annoying pest that does nothing more than bit horses in there ass he believes that this is his life job because an oracle has claimed him the wisest man on earth and he thinks that she is right because he is aware that his knows nothing about wisdom and that after all is wisdom. The jury sentences him to his death and he says that he is un afraid because he doesn’t believe that one should be afraid of something they do not know about because only the gods know what comes after death
